Time Flies

Boy, times does fly when you’re having fun!  We’re at the middle point of the first nine weeks of school.  These four weeks have flown by so quickly.  Our first project will be due October 10 (the Autobiography Project).  We’ve had to make some adjustments and do some rethinking of ideas, but we’re pressing on to completion.  In the coming weeks, we’ll be writing and publishing our final, perfect, polished pieces for this particular project.  I’m looking forward to getting to know you all much better through your writing about your heroes and your future life.

Autobiography Project

This week in class we began working on our first project for our English class.  Each student created a front and back cover for their project including a title page.  Wow, the creativity and imagination you all expressed!  The title page for each project looks great.  Students also completed page two of the Autobiography Project . . . Just the Basics.  Another great looking page to add to the project!  Monday, we’ll begin the process of outlining to gather and organize ideas for page three, the Hero essay.  I’m looking forward to writing this special essay with you all.

Week Two and Counting

Another awesome week enjoyed by Pod 2!  This past week in English, many tasks were accomplished including our first test.  We were able to start Journal Quest Tuesday and what a time for writing, being creative, and sharing our thoughts.  I thank each of you who opened up and shared one of your journal entries Friday.  Keep your eye on the prize . . . 100 and a Coke.  What are your thoughts concerning our Journal Quest experience?  This weekend I’ll be grading your first DLR test.  I know I’ll see lots of 100s!  If you’re registered for TeacherEase, these grades will be posted soon.  I’ll also be reading and grading all the writing you’ve turned in this week . . . A Paragraph Is Like A __________ and City or Country – Which Do You Prefer and Why?  These assignments will be graded as classwork/homework grades.

In the week ahead, we’ll continue with our study of nouns, conventions (one of the writing traits), and discussing our very first project.  Enjoy your Labor Day Weekend!

It’s Back to School

Hi to all you webloggers out there!  I’ve created this blog as a way for us all to share our thoughts and writing throughout the 2008-2009 school year.  Look for new posts relating to our classroom, life, and other interests.  Feel free to post comments as you see fit.

As I’m faced with preparing for tomorrow’s first teacher workday, I am so excited about the upcoming school year.  I can’t wait to jump right in and get the year rolling.  Our school-wide theme will bring the living S.E.A.S. to life . . .Successfully Educating All Students.  When visiting our school, you will feel as if you’ve just been transported to a surf-side paradise by way of beautifully themed classrooms and hallways.  So grab the scuba gear and lets dive right into learning together all we can this school year!
